Life Sciences Week

Description: The first Life Sciences Week organised by Temasek Applied Science School was held on 18 to 23 June 2001. The event comprised of 14 exhibition booths representing various aspects of the Life Sciences, workshops for staff and students, launched of the Life Sciences website and a Healthy Cooking Competition. The event ended with the finals of the Interschool Healthy Cooking Competition for secondary schools. The competition, jointly organised with The Singapore National Heart Association (SNHA), attracted 127 teams from 67 secondary schools. The students cooked up scrumptious, healthy "on-the-go" meals within a budget of $5. The winner was a team comprising of two boys from Tanjong Katong Secondary School.

Description: TP Graduation Ceremony 2007 was held at the Temasek Convention Centre from 21 to 23 May 2007. The ceremonies spanned over 9 sessions and saw students donning on graduation gowns for the first time since 1991 when it was first introduced for the pioneer batch of graduands. Day 1: Session 3. The third session of the Graduation Ceremony was for graduands from Temasek Applied Science School - Diploma in Applied Food Science & Nutrition, Diploma in Biomedical Science, Diploma in Biotechnology, Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Diploma in Consumer Science & Technology and part-time Diploma in Technology (Chemical). Guest of honour for the session was Mr Goh Koon Eng, Managing Director, Chevron Oronite Pte Ltd.

KoolWerkz, this is her story

Description: The video introduces the beginnings of KoolWerkz, which starts out with green tea frozen dessert formulated at the Temasek Applied Science School. Overtime, it evolves into a dynamic partnership involving the four TP schools and the Entrepreneurship Centre. KoolWerkz is a learning enterprise located in Bedok North at the Gourmet East Kitchen. It is a fully equipped HACCP certified ice-cream making plant and A-grade food establishment. KoolWerkz produces healthier version of ice-cream and frozen desserts and in various flavours too. Chemical & biological tests are conducted to ensure food safety & quality at the ice cream plant, and it provides students with sales & marketing learning opportunities. KoolWerkz products are now sold through contract manufacturing, during community evens, in secondary schools and at Temasek Polytechnic.

Applied Food Science & Nutrition students collaboration project with Quaker Oats

Description: Temasek Polytechnics Applied Food Science & Nutrition students worked together with Quaker to develop 20 innovative Asian recipes which included oats. The aim was to make the highly nutritious oats more palatable to the younger market. The recipes were distributed with Quaker’s products which were available locally from September 2008.
